“And deliver them who through fear…were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”~ Heb. 2:15
The word fear (fearing, feared, feareth, fears) is found 496 times in the the Word of God, the 1611 K.J.V. From the greatest to the humblest of saints you will find God exhorting them throughout scripture, “Fear not.
If the world, the flesh, and the devil can keep us in a constant state of fear, they have won the battle.
Fear paralyzes; it numbs. It holds one in a vice, so to speak, that renders that person or persons immovable. You freeze up to whatever you’re doing at the time. Your only desire is to hide or curl up, trembling, in a corner.
Fear has nothing to do with our history but the present and future. The immediate and the far off is what makes us shake in our boots. Fear destroys ‘ALL’ faith in God and His promises! It saps the Christian of his or her strength in the Lord.
As president Franklin Roosevelt said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
Boldness and courage do not void fear, they just set it aside and do what is necessary at the time. If fear were not present, how would you know you had courage? John Wayne said it best when he said, “Courage is being completely paralyzed with fear and taking the first step anyway.”
“…with Jesus leading the way, the disciples…those who followed were afraid.”~ Mk. 10:32
