“Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego…servants of the most high God.”~ Dan. 3:26
“Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.”~ Lv. 26:1
One of the noticeable characteristics of a true servant of God is his or her refusal to bow to the demands of this corrupt world: its religion, philosophy, and all its ways that are contrary to the Holy Scriptures. These are the ONLY ones, it seems to me, that will receive those welcome words as they enter Heaven’s Gates, “His [L]ord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”~ Matt. 25:21
Worldly Haman had a real problem with godly Mordecai, “And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath,”~ Est. 3:5. You might say this saint had back trouble when it came to the world’s anti-Bible commands. The only person such Christians bow to is the One Micha speaks of, “I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the [most] high God.”
Early Christians had a choice to bow the knee to the lordship of Caesar or bow the knee to the Lordship of Jesus Christ; they joyfully chose the latter, at the cost of their lives.
I have little or no fear of an earthly king’s wrath, It is my heavenly King's wrath I fear, with trembling. We are told throughout scripture this kind of fear is the beginning of wisdom.
