“O thou that art named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD straitened?” (restricted in range or scope)~ Mic. 2:7
“Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.”~ Psa. 51:12
“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.”~
The professing Jews of Micah’s day loved to be called after the name of Jacob; it was an honour. But they professed him in name only, not in deed. In the latter they denied him. They were not of the elect, only externally, not internally, Rom. 2:28-29: Rev. 3:9.
They were shallow, no depth of soul; they had not the Spirit within them. They were counterfeits. They really didn’t know the Spirit in truth, only by hearsay. I think osmosis is the word I’m looking for. The elect know Him, not the worldling! “Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him.”~ Jn. 14:7
The great sin of these people was attempting to put the Spirit of God into a straitjacket, to confine Him to their own miniature cardboard box. To bring Him out only when advantageous to themselves. And then to misquote Him as well as misuse and misrepresent Him. They spoke un-scripturally, saying it was the Spirit as well as doing carnal things and attributing these acts to Him. But it is apparent to Spirit-filled saints that there is no light in such deceivers.
Darling David tells us you cannot fence-in the Spirit of a Living God. He is omnipresent. “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea; Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me. If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me. Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.”~ Psa. 139:7-12
And Jesus adds, "The wind bloweth where it listeth (pleases: no boundary or border), and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit."~ Jn. 3:8
What a heritage the child of God has, the Spirit of The Living God abiding within him or her. And as a result are, "free born."
