Awed by Our Awesome God!
"I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus..."
“Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.”~ Psa. 33:8
One dictionary defines the word awed as: an overwhelming feeling of reverence, admiration, fear, etc., produced by that which is grand, sublime, extremely powerful, or the like: as in, awed by God.
Darling David, along with a great host of other God thirsty saints in scripture, stood in Awe of their Great and Almighty God, Jehovah!
The writer of Psalms desired that all the world’s inhabitants would experience this grand grandeur!
For the most part, I think, we have lost, in our 21st century, this pinicual of all spiritual traits! We have lost, or left, our lofty concept of God. We have a low view of our blessed God. Our thoughts of Him are unworthy thoughts!
The thoughts many have of God are those conjured up in their on imagery. God’s indictment against such people is, “…thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself.”
When we manufacture our own God we invariably conform him to his creator, which is us!
