Better Than The Best!

"He is before all things." Col. 1:17

The writer of Hebrews tells us Christ is better- better than the angels, better than Moses, better than Joshua, better than Aaron, and better than any prophet! List all of the names considered the best in Bible times and history; then, in large print, write "JESUS IS BETTER THAN THE BEST!"

When He showed up, everyone and everything became better. He brought in a better hope; a better covenant; better promises, a better sacrifice; a better rest; a better priesthood; a better country; a better resurrection; etc. As a mother tells her sick child, “You will be better when the physician arrives!”

The word “better”  is used 13 times to show Christ’s superiority to any and all things. You can hold one object after another up to Him and they all, with all their glory, fade into nothingness. This is seen in the incident on the mount of transfiguration. When Peter attempted to put two prophets, Moses and Elijah, on the same plane as Jesus, they evaporated, leaving “JESUS ONLY!”
