Close On Our Heels-God's Blessings!

"The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and He addeth no sorrow with it."

“And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.”~ Deut. 28:2 (please read this chapter)

In my daily devotional reading of this chapter the word “overtake” seemed to jump out to me. Some of its definitions are: come up from behind; accelerate; gain; pass; overtake by a greater degree; catch up with; etc. 

In other words, God’s blessings are close on our heels. That is, to those who are living for Him! They are so close they are breathing down our neck, as the saying goes.

Ask Job of olden times concerning this truth. He found after Satan’s buffeting, God’s blessings overtook him. The “afterward” is so important for a saint to keep in mind. “…afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing…”

“But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”~ 1 Pet. 5:10
