“Be of good courage.”~ Josh. 1:6
You’ll find this phrase, and kindred ones, throughout the Scriptures. Life can be hard, and it takes courage to keep on. But, you say, what does one do when he or she has lost his or her courage? My answer? Continue on courageously. The reason this is possible is because at such times, we all keep back a little intestinal fortitude in reserve.
When you have lost everything near and dear to you, you must deliberately pick up and start over again. A good homespun definition of courage is this: When there is nothing left in your life but a pile of ashes, place a sign in the midst for all to read saying, “Business tomorrow as usual.” A self-pitying life is a self-destructive life.
“Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway.”
