“Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might.”~ Eccl. 9:10
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”~ Col. 3:23
It takes little or no character to doing what you like doing; character is best seen in the opposite of this. Things such as: washing dishes, doing homework, mowing the grass, etc. Anything we tag with the words, “I don’t like to do that!” Elisabeth Elliot had a good saying, “When you must make a decision between two choices, always take the most difficult.”
My wife, like many other of her sex, didn’t especially enjoy housework. She was not ashamed to make it known. No one or nothing was a threat to her. As they say, “She was comfortable in her own skin.” She could live with herself. As she told me once when discussing the matter, “After all, I’m all I got.”
I asked her one day if I could make a suggestion, without sounding like a super-saint. Her reply, “Of course, honey.” I said why don’t you clean like Jesus is coming for a visit. She did, and you can guess the rest.
The character that impresses others to follow your example is when you tell them a particular chore you did so well is one that, in the flesh, you dislike, very much.

"Clean like Jesus is coming for a visit"...that is the most excellent advice I've ever heard to make those cleaning tasks pleasurable. Thank you...
