Don't Come Down!
“If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross…If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him…Save thyself, and come down from the cross…Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe.”~ Matt. 27:40,42: Mk. 15:30,32
Had our Lord “Come down,” our redemption would not have been completed. There had to fall from His lips, “It is finished!” He could have ended all His sufferings, but it would have meant an end to our salvation.
The world is always asking us to, “Come down.” That is, cut short God’s will for our lives. The king in the Old Testament sent three times by messengers to Elisha to,“Come down.” They’re ceaseless in their attempt to get us to “Come down.”
Jesus did not yield to the suggestion of this world’s Satanic system, nor should we. In all our suffering, the writer of Hebrews tells us, “Consider Him.”
He refused to ask the Father to keep Him from that hour, the one we all must face at one time or the other. “Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? “Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.”~ Jn. 12:27
