“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.”~ Gal. 6:7-8
I think most small cities like the one in which I reside have a farmers market during summer. The Bible is replete with stories on farming and the truths they teach. There are times when an old farmer can enlighten and inform armchair scholars concerning Scripture.
There are laws in life like the law of physics that says, “Whatever goes up, must come down.” And so it is with agriculture. There is a term known as “the law of the harvest.” It means simply, whatever you sow, you reap. You sow your field with corn seed (kernels) and at harvest, don’t expect to reap a crop of potatoes.
Every child of God is spending his or her life sowing one of two seeds: good seed or bad, a spiritual seed or a carnal seed. Of the former Hosea writes, “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy.” In the latter the book of Job says, “Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.”
Carnal (fleshly) Christians do not sow spiritual things, nor do spiritual saints plant carnal seeds. At that sure harvest time the first’s testimony will be, “My punishment is greater than I can bear.” In referring to the second the wise man says,“But to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.
It is good to keep in mind you always reap more than you sow, be it bad or good!
Oh my gosh, this is so true!
