“I have finished my course.”~ 2 Tim. 4:7
One of the great regrets of my ministry is not finishing a large task I started when I pastored many years ago.
It’s God-like to finish the job, Paul tells us,“He [God] will finish the work…” Jesus said on the cross, “It is finished.” And of the two witnesses in Revelation we read, “And when they shall have finished their testimony…” That is, each finished what God gave them to do. There are times others are to pick up where we leave off.
Some go through life leaving things half done. Over most of their endeavors can be scrolled, “Incomplete, never finished.” If we would heed Jesus’ admonition, I believe we could save ourselves embarrassment on many of these occasions. “For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?~ Lk. 14:28
I like what Naomi said to Ruth concerning Boaz, "Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.”~ Ruth 3:18
