Giving Life Some Color
“Furthermore David the king said…Now I have prepared with all my might for…my God…divers colours…”~ 1 Chron. 29:1-2
David knew the heart of God like few others, I believe. And one of the things he was aware of was how his God loved the variance of different colors.
You can see this throughout the Holy Scriptures. For example, within the Tabernacle, it was arrayed with many beautiful colors- blue, purple and scarlet. Consider the colorful landscape of earth- the flowers, sky, the seasonal change of colors of trees, etc. Then there is Heaven's multi-coloring, the beautiful colored stones on the High Priest’s breastplate, and the list goes on.
God never intended a life to be a picture of drabness, a bland black and white. Bland foods are tasteless; so it is with a life. We need some color in our lives. This is not only advantageous to our own selves, but it will brighten up the lives of loved ones and friends around us.
I have never met a person with a more colorful life than my late dear wife of fifty-seven years, Salle Jo. She put beautiful, breathtaking shades and tones to everything in her life. YES! even her suffering. In her darkest hour, she would have people in stitches, as the saying goes. All who gathered around her sickbed will give testimony to this truth.
I like to say of her, “She was a walking, breathing, KALEIDOSCOPE!
