“[God] Loved me…” Gal. 2:20
Yes! He loved the world, not its system — but we sinners that are within it; notice in our text Paul takes it a step further — he goes from the population to the personal. It is wonderful to know God loved a world of sinners, but even more so to know He loved me, personally!
The Bible tells me this love is great, abiding, unfailing, unalienable, constraining, everlasting, etc. Is it any wonder then that the Apostle speaks so often in his letters of “…His [God] great love wherewith he loved us.”
Some, because of temperament, a wretched upbringing, and other things that were and are in their life have trouble taking hold of this truth; nevertheless it is true! There is nothing you have ever done, doing, or will ever do, that will cause Him to turn away His love from you and me!
We are told, “God is love.” George Mac Donald wrote, “There can be no unity, no delight of love, no harmony, no good in being, where there is but one…two at least are needed…” This most certainly proves the Eternal Son-ship of Jesus Christ! What love, God loves us as he did and does Jesus, “…Thou hast… loved them, as thou hast loved me.”~ Jn. 17:23
I don't understand it, but I'm sure enjoying it!

LOVE (111)~ (George Herbert, 1593-1632)
Love bade me welcome. Yet my soul drew back
Guilty of dust and sin.
But quick-eyed Love, observing me grow slack
From my first entrance in,
Drew nearer to me, sweetly questioning,
If I lacked any thing.
A guest, I answered, worthy to be here:
Love said, You shall be he.
I the unkind, ungrateful? Ah my dear,
I cannot look on thee.
Love took my hand, and smiling did reply,
Who made the eyes but I?
Truth Lord, but I have marred them: let my shame
Go where it doth deserve.
And know you not, says Love, who bore the blame?
My dear, then I will serve.
You must sit down, says Love, and taste my meat:
So I did sit and eat.
