“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground…For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust…I exalted thee out of the dust…I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made…”~ Gen. 2:7; Psa. 103:14; 1 Kgs. 16:2
In one of Amy Carmichael’s poems there is a line which says, “Dust of earth, but Thy dust.” The natural man vehemently refuses to accept this truth, but God’s elect joyfully acknowledges it.
Godly, humble men of the Bible confessed to their Maker such was true in their case. Abraham said, “I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust…” And Job did likewise, “I am…dust…”
This old knowledge needs to become fresh to us daily. Lest we forget, “…the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.” It is an inescapable reality we must learn to live with. The dust can be improved, but not eradicated!
The dust in itself is not sinful, but the Adamic nature that inhabits it, is. But once God moves in to make it His dwelling place, the earthy becomes Spiritual!
Amos tells us some, “…pant after the dust of the earth” (the creatures) But in marked contrast to this David tells us, “…so panteth my soul after thee, O God.”
DAVID PANTED AFTER THE GOD OF THE DUST! (the Creator)
