“Hear my voice, O God, in my prayer.”~ Psa. 64:1
“He hath attended to the voice of my prayer.”~ Psa. 66:19
The following is something the Holy Spirit showed me a couple of mornings ago, in my devotional time. Thought you, my readers, might enjoy it.
Not only do God’s Spirit-filled children know His voice (Jn. 10:27), but He knows each of His elect’s voice. God did not just hear David’s prayer, but He was also familiar with the voice that uttered that prayer. I imagine that when David prayed God said, something like, “I know that voice.” God not only hears the prayer, but knows the voice. How often does He hear ours?
David’s God was not only used to hearing that prayer warrior’s voice each morning, praying to Him, “For unto thee will I pray. My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up. (Psa. 5:2-3), but at other times also. “Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.”~ Psa. 55:17
I think it a good thing to emulate David in God hearing our voice on a regular basis. “Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.”~ (Psa. 5:2) “Give ear, O LORD, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications.”~ (Psa. 86:6) “I cried unto the LORD with my voice; with my voice unto the LORD did I make my supplication.”~ (Psa. 142:1)
Many years ago my blessed mother told me a story that moved me deeply. My wife and I traveled most of the time in evangelism. Mom said she knew that but would call the house often to listen to the answering service. I asked why, if she knew we were gone. Her answer, “I just love to hear your voice, son.”
And HE loves to hear ours, as we do HIS!
