“For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”~ Mk. 11:23
Some have a problem with the above text; Paul didn’t. In 1 Cor. 13 :2, he tells us he believed what was written in the Gospels, “…though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains…”
A dear preacher friend, now with the Lord, told me a stirring story. He pastored a large church and they decided to start a Bible Institute. They bought a piece of land close by. The problem was it had a great mound on it that needed leveled before they could build. The price to excavate was exorbitant, and they did not have the funds for the job.
One day, he said, he was reading the story of what Jesus said about moving mountains. He got on his knees and asked God to do it in their case.
A few days later his secretary informed the pastor that a gentleman who was involved in construction work wanted to speak to him. The man told my friend, I understand you want that great mound removed. If you will donate it freely so I can use the dirt for fill-in, then I’ll level your land and haul it off at no cost.
J.B. Phillips wrote a book entitled, “Your God is Too Small.” When will we ever learn to put God next to our problems? It is then that the giant Mount Everest becomes pea sized in our sight.
Men and women of faith never say, “I’m a survivalist”; rather they say, “I’m an overcomer.”~ rds
