“And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”~ Col. 1:17-18
The question is not, “What this world needs.” But rather, “Who this world needs.” As the gospel song goes, “The World Needs Jesus.” It is not found in a WHAT but a WHO! Sad, but true, many Christians today have made God’s Son an addendum to people’s one great need, whether sinner or saint. It seems everything and everyone is being placed before Him.
It is not the house but the builder.“He who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.”~ Heb. 3:3
It is not the Kingdom but the King.“…they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he (the KING) said unto them, It is not for you to know…”~ Acts 1:6-7
It is not the creature but the Creator. “[They]…worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator…”~ Rom. 1:25
It is not the sons of God but the Son of God.“But as many as received him (the Son of God), to them gave he power to become the sons of God.”~ Jn. 1:12
It is not personalities but a Person.“…let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias…And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.”~ Matt. 17:4,8
The Bible is Christocentric, to put it simply and not in theological terms, it’s all about HIM! The entire canon of scripture is focused on Him. As Watchman Nee puts it, “Jesus is the sum total of all things.”
There is a text in Job that moves me to tears when reading it. In chapter twenty-six Job discusses some of the Lord’s mighty acts, then ends with these heartbreaking words in verse fourteen, “Lo, these are parts of his ways: but how little a portion is heard of him?
