Jacob's "IF"
We may ask, “What if God doesn’t agree to Jacob’s terms?” Will the Lord still be his God? Jacob was what is known today as a wheeler and dealer. That is a schemer, a shrewd operator. He was always at work using “If” as a bargaining chip, especially in his earlier years.
“If” is used properly by Jesus and godly saints in the scriptures, but be on guard when used by carnal believers!
“If” is more or less a conditional word. It was a prefix word in Jacob’s dealings with others, ask Laban, “…"if" thou (Laban) wilt do this thing for me (Jacob), I will again feed and keep thy flock.” God’s people need to be cautious when using this little two-letter word, especially in their dealings with God and the brethren.
It is one of Satan’s favorite words. “If thou be the Son of God…If thou be the Son of God…if thou wilt fall down and worship me.”~ Matt. 4:3,6,9
“There are no “IF’s,” when dealing with our God!~ rds
