“And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and [prayed]…His Christ…Thy Holy Child Jesus…Thy Holy Child Jesus.~ Acts 4:24,26,27.
I was reading by one old divine who mentioned the reason so many of our prayers are so lifeless and unanswered is because very few of them mention Jesus. If you want to get God’s ear in prayer, then the only way to get them to perk-up is for Him to hear the name of Jesus.
The early church’s prayers as well as that of individual believers made much of His lovely name in their prayers to God. For example, read the prayers of Paul, and you will find terms such as: “Lord Jesus”; “Christ”; “Jesus”; and “Lord Jesus Christ”; etc. Each prayer is saturated with Jesus’ name.
I wonder how much of Jesus occupies our prayers?
Where did the above mentioned get this great truth? From the Master Himself! He had told them while with them on earth, “Ask in my name…ask any thing in my name…ask of the Father in my name…ask the Father in my name…ask the Father in my name…ask in my name.” That Name is the key to lively answered prayer!
In prayer it is not what you know, but who you know.
