Our Desires-Others Needs?
"Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good...For even Christ pleased not Himself."
“For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a DESIRE to___which is far better”~ Phil.1:23
“Nevertheless to___is more NEEDFUL for you.”~ Phil. 1:24
God promises to grant the desire of the righteous, sooner or later. Many times the latter. The reason is that in the interval between there is a necessity.
Paul considered his desire greater than the necessity, and he was right. But in God’s plan the lesser was necessary even though not the greater. At times the least takes precedence over the great.
Jesus said to His followers that it was necessary He go away, but in Paul’s situation, that he stay. Each had the welfare of others in mind.
Our desires are important to God, but the good of others more than our desires, as godly and spiritual as they may be. When it involves others our desires move to second place, on the Lord’s list of things to do!
“Some go and leave a blessing. Some stay and are a blessing. Stay or go, our lives can be a blessing!”~rds
