“…and the LORD said unto me…speak no more unto me of this matter.”~ Deut. 3:26
Because of something regrettable in Moses' past (which he prayed about), God told him to cease praying concerning it. In other words, to use today's vernacular, God said “I don’t want to hear any more on the subject.”
Martyn Lloyd-Jones writes about past problems in our lives, “You must stop praying at times (about past problems) because your prayer may be reminding you of the problem and keeping your mind fixed upon it.”
Our past sins and failures are history. To pray about those things in the past that we cannot change in the present is futile. Such saints who do so are crippled in the present from accomplishing anything for the Lord.
Our past regrets are under the blood, behind God’s back, at the depth of the sea, blotted out, forgiven, cleansed, and yes, forgotten. Is it any wonder then that Paul made it a rule to forget the past (Phil. 3:13). He refused to allow it to paralyze him in his present state! He put it behind him!
Each of us who name the name of Christ needs to resolve that we are finished discussing our jaded past with our merciful and forgiving Lord! We need to learn to live in the “NOW”! That is where faith lives, “Now faith…”(Heb. 11:1)
