PUTTING YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD
“We walk by faith and not by sight."~ 2 Cor. 5:7 It is written in Hebrews eleven that without faith it is impossible to please God. If you want to please Him in this life it will be necessary for you to get your feet wet, so to speak — like the priests at Jordan, as soon as they, by faith, put the soles of their feet into the waters things began to happen.
You could say the foot of faith is putting your best foot forward. Faith is never passive. Every true act of faith in the Bible is followed by activity. We’re told our Father Abraham went out not knowing whether he went. He didn't know the “where” in the situation, but he knew the “WHO.” Faith always has a calculated risk. Its motto is, “RISK EVERYTHING ON GOD!”
A childlike trust in God will never be betrayed. If God doesn't keep His promise to me then I lose the blessing, but more importantly, He will lose His character. A promise depends on the character of the one who made it! And the available resources to fulfill it.
Each new venture in our Christian life, whether it be small or great, must begin with a step of faith; if not by faith, then certain failure awaits us. Faith enables the trusting soul to treat the future as the present, and the invisible as the seen.
As Oswald Sanders said of Paul, in his biography of him, "Paul's faith was at home in the realm of the impossible as well as the realm of the possible." Faith believes God has no limitations, "All things are possible."
God demands the impossible to get us to come to Him.~ rds
