Remembering Jesus' Words
“He shall…bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”~ Jn. 14:26
“And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.”~Matt. 26:75
Concerning our first text, I think many preachers and teachers only bring out one side of this great truth. Looking at the second scripture, I believe Peter would tell us there is another side to it. It is the latter side that parents with wayward children can find solace in, and also we who have given His Word to friends and loved ones, who have strayed from the fold.
Peter is not the only one who could testify to this fact. Wayward Jonah said, “When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee…” And darling David, during the time he was a strayed sheep from God says, “I thought on my ways, and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.”
Any of these three men, using today's vernacular, would warn us, “You can run, but you can’t hide.” As one who knew said, “Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?” He goes on to tell us no matter where he flees to, “…behold, Thou art there…”
“Every true child of God has a Divine remembrancer within in him; no matter where he is or what he’s doing.”~ rds
