Many Bible teachers and students believe Hebrews teaches there are three rests for the child of God. The rest of salvation, past; the rest of sanctification, present; and the rest of Heaven, future. I personally have not yet studied the subject.
The rest that concerns me, in this article is that which we Christians’ can experience now in our walk with God. Not the Heaven of rest, that awaits us but the haven of rest, where we can restfully anchor our souls in the harbour of life, today!
Contrary to many popular songs and sermons, Canaan, in the Bible, is not a type of Heaven, but rather of the victorious Christian life now available to all God’s children. It is a life of rest that can only be entered into by faith.
We are told many Israelites of old could not enter this blessed resting place because of their unbelief. “And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.”~ Heb. 3:18-19
It was not unworthiness that kept them from it, but their unbelief! “Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it…but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it…For we which have believed do enter into rest…they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief…There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.”~Heb. 4:1-10
It may ask,”When can I enter this rest?” David [said], “To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.”

Such a blessing, Dad.
