A NOBODY BECAME A SOMEBODY!
"And Jesus said, 'Somebody' hath touched me..."~ Lk. 8:46
In one sense, I can relate to this woman, although her situation falls under the feminine category. Being anemic and having a blood disorder, I know the feeling of having a blood count so low it requires a transfusion.
In our story this unnamed woman, with no part of her history told us except for her physical malady, comes on the scene like a star that shines and then disappears. She appears before us as one who simply trusted our Lord.
It is not the crowd "thronging" Jesus to which our eyes are drawn but on this woman and her Lord. We turn our attention away from the multitude to these two: the sick one and her Healer. They were made for each other!
Jesus is on His way to help another when He is detained by this woman. But no interruption is unwelcome to Him when there is a need at hand. After a busy and tiring day, He still took time with Nicodemus at day's end.
How we need to learn this important lesson from Him, that seemingly accidental interruptions in our lives are God-ordained. We should prize such situations, not dread them. Little do we know what will come of such encounters!
