Series 4- MY FAVORITE (O.T.) VERSE
“Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise."~ Micah 7:8
Four of my eleven (one in Heaven) great grandchildren live a little over an hour from me. Ethan is oldest, being a young teen. Each time I see him I ask him a question concerning a truth I'm trying to ingrain in his character. That being, “What is the greatest secret to life?" His reply, and rightly so, “Keep getting up.”
Life is full of falls. This is true in the spiritual realm as well as the physical. David tells us even good men can and do fall, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD...Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.” (Psa. 37:23-24) And the wise man tells us, “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again.” (Prov. 24:16) Both these men knew, for they had experienced what they preached.
No amount of falls can disqualify a godly person from life’s fight, if they keep getting up. If you are knocked off your feet it is alright to stay down and rest till you get your second wind, but before the ref says, "ten” get back up. The real disgrace comes in refusing to get back up when Jesus is offering you His helping hand!
My dear departed wife once said to me, “I think I will put on your tombstone, 'Keep Getting Up'.” I replied with a smile, “You’ll never be more Scriptural.” I went on to explain that even after death, the sod will not keep me down. I’ll get back up and this time it will be my last in having to do so! Hallelujah!
