HEBREWS CHAPTER ELEVEN
(Please read the entire chapter)
The book of Hebrews was my wife’s favorite book; chapter eleven is my favorite chapter. I don’t know how many times I’ve read it over these past sixty-five years in my walk with God. It’s the, “Hall of Faith Chapter". It is an inspired record of many of the heroes of the faith, as found in the Old Testament. Faith is faith. It doesn’t change from one generation to another!
Many doctrinal and practical lessons can be learned from this chapter. I will list a few of them: In v 1-40, faith is mentioned 24 times; v 1, faith is a “now” thing- always present tense; v 2, if you have the right kind of faith, you get a good report card; v 4, your faith can live on long after you’re gone; v 6, the faith that pleases God is two-fold: (1) You must believe that He is. That is, He is all He claims to be; (2) You must believe He answers prayer, as well as hearing them; v 7, if you can’t see it before you see it, then you’ll never see it; v 7, Faith has a hammer and nails in its hand, it works; v 9, your earthly tabernacle will someday be traded in for a mansion; v 13, hug (embrace) to your bosom the promises of God; v 15, they didn’t have a second thought about leaving the world for Him; v 21-22, dying faith is only good when you’re dying; v 35-36, don’t forget “the others” when speaking of faith. Some's faith delivers “from” their trials; others' faith delivers “in” their trials. Nevertheless, all the above was…”BY FAITH.”
“Paul’s faith didn’t remove mountains, but it has moved many a saint for over 2,000 years.”
