“In thy salvation how greatly shall [I] rejoice!~ (Psa.21:1)...the joy of thy salvation .(Psa.51:12)...I will rejoice in thy salvation.~ (Psa.9:14)...my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.~ (Psa.13:5)...We will rejoice in thy salvation.~ (Psa.20:5)...And my soul shall be joyful...it shall rejoice in his salvation.~ (Psa.35:9)
Darling David found one of the greatest secrets of life while living among its up and downs, especially during those down times. He had learned that when the colors of life all seem to bleed together and there is no longer a distinctiveness, to rejoice in his salvation. As Martyn Lloyd-Jones says, “When things get hazy and you’re not sure of anything around you, always come back to your foundation.”
We who have built our lives on the Eternal ROCK, Christ Jesus, and not the shifting sands of time, need not fear when the storms of life take everything from us, for when all settles again we will find ourselves standing secure on the solid ROCK!
No matter what Hannah’s lot in life, her testimony remained, “I rejoice in thy salvation (1 Sam.2:1). And when Habakkuk seemed to be stripped of all that is essential to living said, “I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation (Hab.3:18). We are told that these were written for our learning and example; let us therefore follow in their train.
During those dark times when I don’t think I can go on by taking another step, I stand in front of a mirror and repeat the following: “No matter what happens, I AM ETERNALLY, EVERLASTINGLY, SAVED, SAFE, AND SECURE, IN THE GOD OF MY SALVATION!
Amen!! Thank you.
