“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones (non-perishable), wood, hay, stubble (perishable); Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day (the J.S.C.) shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what [sort] it is. If any man's work abide (non-perishable) which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned (perishable), he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.~ 1 Cor. 3:11-15
No authentic Christian will stand at The Great White Throne of Judgment for sinners. But we will all stand before The Judgement Seat of Christ for saints. The former has to do with our sins against a Holy God, which have been forgiven us. The latter, our service to our God; the accountability we must each give on how we lived our lives as a child of God.
What I want to call attention to in this article is the little word, “sort.” Not, “size”, which is so emphasized today, but “sort.” Size has to do with quantity; sort with quality. The first mentioned has to do with amount or number; the second with the degree of excellence of something.
I spoke to a contemporary serviceman some time back who stated that most of today’s products are not made to last over any period of time. He added most are junk. Whereas in contrast, the old time craftsman’s work was made to last-it was durable! His works went on through the years to become known as antiques; things of value and great worth.
Many of God’s preachers and people need to quit the assembly-line and get back to being a craftsman!
