“Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope.”~ Psa. 119:49
I realize most, if not all, godly Christians have a lifelong verse they cling to, but I am discussing another kind of text today. It is not too early to think about this coming new year. Therefore, allow me to plant in my readers’ minds a seed thought, something I intend to do this coming year in my own devotional time with God; in fact, I’ve already started.
I got the idea from reading something C.H. Spurgeon said in one of his sermons on prayer: “When coming before God in prayer we need to take one of His promises with us.” I have chosen the above text to carry with me each time I enter the Holy of Holies, before His Mercy Seat. I have memorized it.
This saintly man gives a great illustration that puts across his point, It’s as follows: “Oriental kings maintained an officer whose business it was to remind the king of these promises which he had made aforetime. He said this to that courtier, that to the other; but his majesty had plenty of other things to think of, and therefore, every now and then, his Remembrancer would say, Please your majesty, you promised to do this and that; may it please you to perform your word.”
Isaiah 43:26, “Put me in remembrance.” Let each of us be a REMEMBRANCER!
