“Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.”~ Mk. 13:31
[Relevant: “Appropriate to the current time, period, or circumstance. It matters, it’s important to the matter at hand.”]
Are you one among the many who’ve had to grapple with the terms of the Bible’s relevance in our ever changing world? That is, applying the seeming outdated with today’s advancements; going from archaic Bible times to our contemporary culture. For example: In transportation, changing from donkeys to Uber. In dress, exchanging robe and sandal’s to suit and shoes, and the list goes on. Some find it difficult to relate to Bible times.
In many places, scripture presents pictorial truths for the time then present, but each has hidden principles for all time. Saints with spiritual insight find it to be so. We may not wash our guest’s feet, but we can show them lowly service. And in place of a holy kiss, display our deep affection for them. Such eternal principles never change.
You may change the name but the substance remains the same. “A rose by any other name is still a rose.” To illustrate; you can put a white vest over a black heart, but it doesn’t change the condition. And in like manner you can say, as they did in Bible times, Jesus is a devil, but that doesn’t change who HE WAS AND IS!
Don’t worry; our Eternal timeless God saw way past our age, as well as those past and any the future may hold. As my gospel singer/writer grandson, Joseph Habedank wrote, “He’s Been There.”
