The Carnal Man's Christ
Luke speaks of, “The Lord’s Christ,” (Lk. 2:26). Paul tells us there is, “Another Jesus,” (2 Cor. 11:4) The lost religious world, along with the carnal (fleshly) Christian, has a manufactured Christ. That is, one they have conjured up in their own imagery, a Christ that fits into their way of life rather than God’s Christ into Whose way of life they are supposed to fit.
The sectarian Christ says to the adulterous woman, “Neither do I condemn thee." Period. But the Christ of the scriptures adds, “Go and sin no more.” The Christ of the Bible told the impotent man at the pool of Bethesda, “Behold, thou art made whole: [then adds] sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee,” (Jn. 5:14).
The Christ of those with blinders on are basically sentimentalist (influenced by emotions) individuals. Grace is their “Get-Away-Free” ticket. But as Dietrich Bonhoeffer says, “It’s a grace that’s a disgrace”
