THE CONDENSED LIFE
"And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen."~ Jn. 21:25
BRINGING THINGS DOWN TO SIZE
The Bible is a condensed (made denser or more concise) Book. It does not tell every little detail, only those things the Holy Spirit deems necessary for our life and learning. Most certainly we're taught by this that the divine author believed brevity is best. Detail, in every case, is not always all-important. It neither adds to or diminishes from the subject. How often Mary washed diapers or Paul cut his fingernails is not relevant. It is enough to imagine they certainly did such things. It is in those mundane times of life that we learn to enjoy the special times.
LIFE IS NOT IN A NUTSHELL
Whether reading the Bible or biographies, one may assume the ideal things written about individuals was the extent of his or her whole life. Thus, such people are thought to join the spiritual elite club and have no or very little time for everyday human duties, activities, and enjoyments. Some, as in Paul’s day, get so carried away in being "spiritual," they neglect daily duties (2 Thess. 3:11). I’ve known people who spend most of their time going from one Camp Meeting to another, seeking a "spiritual high." But the norm of the saints life is not in living on the mountaintop, but in the valley!
