I was reading a quote some time ago by Abraham Kuyper, a Dutch theologian of the past. He said, “There is not a square inch of territory in the whole universe over which Christ does not say, ‘This is mine.’”
The Bible says of us who are Christians that we are not our own. Jesus Christ bought and paid for us with His own life, from the slave market of sin. He has every right to say of one of His blood-bought lambs, “He or she is mine.”
I, for one, am exceedingly happy that He owns me for His own. Many need to own up to His ownership in their lives. This is not done by talk but by walk. “And why call ye me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say.”
It is good to remember, we are only tenants. “For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof.” He is the “Landlord.” We are to pay Him on a regular basis what is due Him. “Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name.”
For many, rent is way past due, and they need to “Pay…that thou owest.”
