Our family has been blessed with a variety of musical gifts, the exception being my son Andrew and his dad. Nevertheless we both love and appreciate good music as much as the others.
Now that I am alone most days (not without the Lord’s presence), I play godly music in my home from morning till night. I cannot express my thanks to God and the men and women who dedicated their musical talent to the Lord. They have most certainly helped this old man on his journey Home! They have lifted me up; encouraged; strengthened; healed; and challenged me to keep going!
When darling David began playing upon his harp along with song it was then the devils fled away from Saul. Before Horrid Gethsemane and the Cross we are told Jesus sang with His disciples,“And when they had sung an hymn (Psa. 118), they went out into the mount of Olives.”~ Mk. 14:26
In the book of Revelation we find singing plays a big part in heaven. There, we will be eternally singing to the Lamb. That being the case we need to get in tune with heaven, NOW!
I once held a meeting in Canada where the preacher’s son was the church pianist. He asked me before service what was one of my favorite songs, he wanted to play it prior to services. I mentioned I liked, Jesus, Lover of my Soul. to which he replied, “I don’t think I ever heard that one.” Enough said!
“Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us.”~ (Martin Luther)
