“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path…For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness…Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path… the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day…”~ Psa. 119:105;2 Sam. 22:29;Psa. 27:11;Prov. 4:18
Apart from prophetic scripture the Bible, for the most part, is about doing the next thing. That is, what’s next on the Divine agenda? Don’t concern yourself with what’s up-ahead, for those in His Will, He has that all planned out. He has taken care of every little particular as well as the big ones. Your future is in good and safe hands! Trust Him with your earthly life as you have with your eternal soul.
David tells us God’s Word is like a lamp. It casts light on where we’re at and sheds enough light before us that we can see how to take the next step. We just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Jesus taught this in His Sermon on the Mount, Matt. 6:34. Remember when you get discouraged just one step gets you closer to your desired destination; it may be the last one needed before arriving!
I use to have a sermon entitled, The Daily Christian Life.” It speaks of the believers daily bread, death, benefits, praise, prayer, cross bearing, etc. One of my late wife’s favorite passages is found in Psa. 118: 24, “This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” She brought to my attention it is an act of will, not circumstances, feelings, etc.
Take a step my beloved, even if it is only a baby-step. It is still a move forward!
Great, Dad. Thank you!
