The Real Thing
“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”~ Matt. 7:15
Contrary to one of the popular sayings of our day, “What you see is what you get,” is not always the case. On many occasions what we see is not what we get. Satan and his cronies show up as sheep outwardly but inwardly their nature is that of a ravenous wolf. When Jesus came on the world scene, He came as a sheep, and was one through and through, that is, He was altogether authentic! The real thing, if you please.
It is so important for those of us who profess to be His not to major only on the outward garb of the Lamb of God, but to possess His inward nature also. Some say, “Clothes make the man”; not true! His nature makes the man. A man’s nature is the determining factor in all areas of life. A sow and a sheep can both fall into the mud, but while the former will wallow in it, the latter will use every means to get out of it. That’s its nature!
When the Shunammite maiden, in the book of two loves, asked the question, “Tell me, O thou whom my soul loveth, where thou feedest, where thou makest thy flock to rest at noon…” The answer came back, “O thou fairest among women, go thy way forth by the footsteps of the flock” (Sng. 1:7-8). FOLLOW THE FOOTPRINTS OF HIS SHEEP AND YOU WILL ALWAYS FIND HIM! (John 10:4)
