“And [Elijah] said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.”~ 1 Kgs. 18:43-44
From this story we learn the truth of the brief saying, “Little is much when God is in it.”
Matthew Henry wrote in his commentary: “A little cloud at length appeared, no bigger than a man’s hand, which presently overspread the heavens and watered the earth, v44-45. Great blessings often arise from small beginnings, and showers of plenty from a cloud of a span long. Let us therefore never despise the day of small things, but hope and wait for great things from it. This was not as a morning cloud, which passes away (though Israel's goodness was so), but one that produced a plentiful rain (Psa. 68:5), and an earnest of more.”
Whenever we have the least bit of an inkling (as in our story), we need to pursue it, and once we’re sure it is of Him, act on it. When we follow after such a hint we will get more light, “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day, Prov. 4:18. “…in thy light shall we see light.~ Psa.36:9
If you desire more light, then go by the light you have!
