“And Hezekiah rejoiced, and all the people, that God had [prepared] the people: for the thing was done [suddenly].”~ 2 Chron. 29:36
Here we see both the slowness (prepared), and (suddenness) of God. I find the will of God to be a strange phenomenon. You may wait days, weeks, months, and even years for it to come to pass. But when the time comes for its accomplishment, things move rapidly.
The slow and suddenness of God's will is seen throughout the Bible. For example, Israel waited over 400 years for God to fulfill His promise of deliverance; but when the night finally came, we read, "...with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and...in haste.…"
When God’s time comes it is not gradually, but suddenly. Our Omnipotent God is limitless in His ability to perform His promises. He need not drag on, or delay His intentions. The Lord God can suddenly burst in and break up any and all unpleasant circumstances in our lives, at any given moment. God doesn't have to start from the bottom up. He starts at the top. You know, like the veil of the temple.
From our perspective we may have waited long, but not from His perch (speaking reverently). After a fifty-day wait we’re told, “And suddenly there came … from heaven.”
God tells us in Isaiah, "I the Lord will hasten it in his time." When God's time comes, I have found in my own life, things begin to happen so fast, as they say “It will make your head swim."
Oh, child of God, you may have waited long, but when His time comes for your, or their, deliverance, it will also be done suddenly from heaven. "And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily."
Hallelujah for the suddenness of God! It could be today. Remember, He can cause it to stop as quickly as it seemed to you to have started! Ask Noah!
