“Why do the heathen (Gentiles) rage, and the people (Israel) imagine a vain thing? The kings (Gentiles) of the earth set themselves, and the rulers (Israel) take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.”~ Psa. 2:1-3, (cp. Acts 4:25-27)
The Adamic world may be at odds among themselves over many minor, secondary, non-essential issues, but there is one thing on which they have always been in agreement: the overthrow of God’s Kingdom and His appointed KING! Whether prince or pauper, intelligent or ignorant, they have always been in step with this goal; not one has ever been out of step. From almost the beginning of time till this present it has been so of all peoples and nations.
The early church quoted this text in a prayer meeting in Acts chapter four. If you’ll check, you will find God’s anointed in Psalms that they believed to be Jesus. This godless world is in perfect unity as to what their desired accomplishment is--notice the words “together” and “against.” Their intent is to break all restraints, “bands,” and “cords" so that they are free to commit their abominations. It is humanity taking up arms against their Creator! Their rage is not a passing thing; it is not temporary. It is set like concrete.
But while they are proposing, God is disposing, as C.H. Spurgeon puts it. God is having Himself a good laugh. And who wouldn’t when beholding a flea taking on an elephant (I say this with all reverence). They can bend or break, the choice is theirs. If it is the former, there will be shown affection to God’s Son! “Kiss the Son.” Not as a show, as Judas did; but in sincerity like Mary. A good thing can be abused and misused, but God knows the difference!
“And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”~ Rev. 19:11-16

Thanks again, Doc. The saints lock arms together in resistance to this wicked world and await the trumpet. “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”
