THE WARRIORS LOVE
“But thou, O man of God...follow after love...Fight the good fight of faith…” ~
1 Tim. 6:11-12
David of the Old Testament and Paul in the New, as well as a host of others including women such as Deborah were all mighty warriors for their Lord. We do not generally equate a warrior with such characteristics as love, compassion, kindness, etc.; but you will find, hidden beneath the armour of those who fight the good fight of faith for their God, that there lies a heart full of love in each! It is possible to find both a tough hide and a tender heart inside the same Christian armour.
If you doubt me, study the life of the Captain of our Salvation, The Man of War as He is referred to. The One who sat on a donkey and went about both displaying and preaching love is also the One who sits on a white horse leading His armies to victory over His foes.
I have found over a long ministry and years of studying people, that those men and women who possess true and godly Biblical convictions seem to love the most. Theirs is not a syrupy superficial love but a deep-seated scriptural love. One that will lead to their death, in some cases. They love, not because of their carnal feelings, but for the simple fact that He commanded them to do so; love is an act of the will!
