Jesus said of His wayward, distraught people, “I would… ye would not.” ~ Matt. 23:37
THERE IS EXISTENCE AND THERE IS LIFE
Notice, it was not that they could not, but they would not. Jesus told His followers while here on earth the reason for them not having full, rich lives was for the fact, “Ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.” If we are not living “… abundant lives,” let us not blame God for our miserable existence. To find the true culprit we have only to take a peek in a mirror.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO PLEASE YOU?
The sad truth of the matter is, as one of my favorite writers, C.S. Lewis has stated, “We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”
HE IS AS WILLING TO GIVE AS WE ARE TO RECEIVE-AND MORE SO
“And, behold, there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.”
