“...ye shall see heaven open…”~ Jn. 1:51
Soon after my conversion to Christ, I began listening to a great radio preacher by the name of Charles E. Fuller out of Long Beach, CA. The program was called, The Old-Fashioned Revival Hour. Each Sunday morning before church, I’d sit attentively next to my small radio, listening to the old preacher. As he expounded the Word, I was moved by his compassionate heart, and the pathos of his voice. The choir would sing a little chorus which always caused my heart to leap for joy and my eyes filled with tears. The title was, “There’s An Open Heaven Tonight.”
God tells His people in Deuteronomy, as well as in other places, that He will close heaven up if they sin and rebel against Him and His Word. If He is not the preeminent joy of their life, then He will bring sadness into it. This warning is given to nations, churches, and homes; as well as to individuals. But the great revival promise in 2 Chron. 7:14 always works for these whenever they turn and seek the Lord in sincerity and truth again. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see an open heaven again in our generation? To see God pour out His blessing upon His people and our Nation?
The Bible refers to an open heaven on several occasions in the lives of God’s ransomed. Ezekiel, Peter, Stephen, and John the Beloved, all experienced an open heaven. It is recorded of Christ at His baptism, “Jesus...praying, the heaven was opened and the Holy Ghost descended…”
Will you begin praying with me, although we be a small remnant, for God to open the Heaven’s once again in our age? May our prayer be taken from Isaiah’s lips, when he said, “O that thou wouldest rend the heaven’s, that thou wouldest come down…”
There are many today who say they are waiting for His return, but in the meanwhile their “doom and gloom” attitude doesn’t do anything for me . I want to be in a state of revival upon His return. Don’t you want it to be said of you at his revelation “...when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received Him: for they were all waiting for Him!”
