Those Locust-Eaten Years
“And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten…”~ Joel 2:25
Although I am told locusts only live a few months, the destructive path they travel can be seen long after they have passed off the scene. One of the main characteristics they leave behind is a complete stripping of what lies before them!
To his disillusioned brethren, the prophet Joel brought a message of hope — the hope of a new beginning. God delights in giving His failing children a chance to begin again. He is the God of the second chance!
It is never too late to make a new start, even if we have missed His plan up til the present. God promises, “I will restore.” And who of us has had no locust-eaten years? Years of truly fruitless worship and service?
As Oswald Sanders puts it, “No past failure makes future victory less possible.” Our past defeats can bring about humility and brokenness for future victorious living.
Always remember Jeremiah’s words, “And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.”~Jer. 18:4
