“…this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith .…Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth….”~ 1 Jn. 5:4-5
O to have a vibrant, victorious, overcoming faith! The word overcome and its kin seem to be a favorite of John the Beloved. It is found no less than ten times in the books of John, including his writings in Revelation.
There is no victory to be had over the world, the flesh, and the devil without a robust faith, a faith whose object is Jesus Christ. He is our great Victor and Overcomer! The Lord rebuked His followers who were void of it and commended those who possessed it.
May our prayer also be that of theirs: “Lord, increase our faith.”
Faith counts everything true that the flesh tells us is untrue. It sees the unseen. It believes when all hope is taken away. Faith never travels alone; its companion, works, puts its hand in faith's. A faith alone is not to be trusted. God honors faith, even beginner's faith. Exercising one's faith adds spiritual muscle, resulting in a greater faith. All those with great faith started as a novice. So let's get started, shall we?
