What's in a Day?.
“As thy days, so shall thy strength be.” ~ Deut. 33:25
After searching a few commentaries for comments on our text, I’ve come to agree with the old Georgia preacher when he said, “De Bible sho do shed a lot of light on dem commentaries!”
Aren’t you glad it does not say, “As thy strength, so shall thy days be?” If this had been the case, I’d have been finished a long time ago. God knew that in our fallen state there would be both good days and bad days. Therefore He promises strength, especially for the latter.
Someone has said, “Life would not be so bad if it were not so daily.” But it is, and that is no doubt why Jesus spoke so much about the daily Christian life. His philosophy was “one day at a time.” Joseph Parker wrote, “God never communicates surplus power, He promises no strength beyond the day in which it is required.”
The Lord is the strength of my life. (Psl.27:1)
