When God's Son Came Home Again
“And now come I to thee (His Father)…”~ Jn. 17:13
I think contrary to the norm that what passes for the Lord’s Prayer is actually a family prayer,“Our Father.” We might say it is The Disciples' Prayer. On the other hand John 17, I believe is, The Lord’s Prayer. The one involves all His children, the other His only begotten Son!
The statement that He is coming Home falls not from the lips of the Sinful prodigal son leaving a prodigal world, but rather, the Sinless Son of God, leaving a prodigal world.
If there was such joy and merriment as to the former, how much more in the case of the latter! Gone for thirty three years, living among people, who for the most part, hated, hounded, and horribly mistreated the One who loved each of them. The Man who was to freely lay down His life for each of them that they might have the opportunity if so desired to live with Him and His Heavenly Father for all eternity!
Upon His arrival back Home did His Father say, to all the created creatures of that celestial country, “My Son has come Home”? I can imagine He did, with a loud and clear voice. It rang through every corridor of Heaven, I think.
It was not the lost sheep returning but God the Father’s Lovely Lamb returning to His bosom once again. The place in eternity's past, where He snuggled! “…the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father…”~ Jn. 1:18
“The golden gates are lifted up,
The doors are opened wide;
The King of glory has gone in
Unto His Father’s side.”
