“Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.”~ Lk. 6:21
Do you feel at times during those dreaded dark intervals in your life that you will never laugh again? Be of good cheer, suffering one, for Jesus tells us our sadness will be replaced with gladness. It is just the opposite with the wicked, He says.
There are those who believe we should be sober at all times, but this is far from Bible teaching. The scripture condemns giddie laughter, not godly laughter. There are several texts that speak of God Himself laughing. There is a Godly laugh!
The Psalmist writes, “…weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning,”~ Psa. 30:5. That is, it passes. The nights of weeping may seem long, but the days of laughter are longer. He will lengthen your days, He promises.
When the sun rises (and it will rise again) the testimony of God’s people is, “Then was our mouth filled with laughter…The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad,”~ Psa. 126:2-3. I am convinced God loves to hear His elect laugh!
A contemporary comedian said, “Laughing is, and always will be, the best form of therapy.” He came a little late to the party. The wise man in Proverbs said, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.~ Prov. 17:22
